Part Ownership of Dickerson 41’ Ketch in the BVI
There are several 4 and 5 week ownership interests available in On Eagles' Wings, a 41 foot center cockpit ketch that is professionally maintained and kept year round in Tortola, British Virgin Islands. On Eagles' Wings was built by Dickerson Boatyards in 1979 and is recognized as one of the all-time great sailboats in The Worlds Best Sailboats.
An ownership interest includes use of On Eagles' Wings for 4-5 weeks each year and is offered at $10,000 for 4 weeks and $12,500 for 5 weeks. Each owner pays their share of the annual costs of operating and maintaining the boat based on their number of weeks. Total costs are estimated at $30,000 per year, so the charge per week is expected to average $1,000 to $1,500 depending on the number of owners.
The boat has a 120% genoa jib with Harken roller furling, mainsail and mizzen (both new in 2007) with stack pack furling. Power is by a 65 HP Perkins-Sabre diesel (1500 hours), and a 5 KW Northern Lights generator (7000 hours) provides 110 volts for refrigeration, battery charging, hot water and cooking. There are berths for 6, including a huge aft cabin; there are two heads, both with showers. A pass-through allows movement between the aft and main cabin without going above deck. An Ideal electric windlass is used for the main anchor, a 45 lb Delta with 225 feet of chain. There is a secondary 35lb Delta anchor also available. The boat has a full keel and draws only 4.5 feet.
OEW has a Carib hard-bottomed inflatable with a 15 HP Yamaha outboard. A dodger, full Bimini, and removable side curtains provide excellent coverage from the sun and elements. OEW carries 100 gallons of diesel and 100 gallons of water.
A prospective owner will be asked to submit a resume of relevant sailing experience and must be committed to operating this wonderful classic yacht in an appropriate manner. We typically sail OEW in the waters of the British and US Virgin Islands and Puerto Rico.
